    John Sleigh is an Inspector of Mines, with the Queensland Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, based in Mackay.

    He has worked as a Mines Rescue Corpsman at the Southern Mines Rescue Station at Bellambi, NSW, managed a large underground coal mine, and has consulted to ACT Emergency Services and many other organisations on safety and health and training matters. He is the chair of the Queensland Level 1 emergency exercise committee and has been nominated as a member of the Queensland mines board of examiners.
